Babaji Bhat was a Brahmin who lived in Mangalvedha. Every fifteen days, Swami Samarth used to come and sit in his house. One day when Swami came, his wife was at home while Babaji Bhat was attending to some errands elsewhere in the village.
As soon as she saw Him, his wife offered an asana to Swami and with great devotion, offered Him worship. Swami asked her for a drink of water. She replied, "I will fetch you some water from outside."
Samarth asked her, "Why are you going outside when you have a well in your home!"
She replied, "It is true that we have a well but it has dried up in the drought season. I will bring you fresh water from the community well."
Maharaj replied, "Don't go out. There is plenty of water in the well. I will show you. Come", and led her to the well. He then urinated into the well and then asked her to lower a vessel into the well to draw water.
The good-natured and devout woman complied, and to her utter surprise, the vessel was filled with water, She looked into the well and saw that there was water in the well up to a man's height. Just then Babaji Bhat returned home and his wife narrated what had happened.
Both husband and wife offered their obeisances to Shri Swami Samarth. There was never again a shortage of water.
Later, Babaji Bhat lived in Pandharpur and there he continued to narrate this incident that showed Swami's generosity.
